Because of the quarantine, even more people began to think about how to earn money online. One way is to create your own YouTube channel. But the question arises — how to get subscribers to it?
In this article, we will look at several ways to attract users to your channel and make them regular viewers.
1. Optimize the Channel and Videos
The channel should be optimized for the target audience as much as possible. What to pay attention to.
The desire to subscribe is influenced not only by the content of the videos, but also by the design. A beautiful, high-quality channel evokes confidence and a sense that the author is serious about the matter. What is included in the design:
Avatar – this is usually where the company logo or personal photo is located. We advise you to choose a recognizable image without small details.
The header is the first thing people see when they visit the main page of any YouTube channel. They can also subscribe to you there (the second way is to click the “Subscribe” button under the video). The cap should answer the viewer’s 2 main questions: “what is this channel About” and “Why should I subscribe to it”.
Tip: add a call to subscribe to the header. Don’t forget to include links to your social networks and website (if available).
Video covers – people can click on a video without even reading the title if the video has an attractive and informative cover. It must match the subject of the video.
You also need to create and configure:
- channel trailer;
- channel and video description;
- recommended videos section;
- end screensavers;
- the channel sections.
The Selection of Keywords
Keywords affect the promotion of the channel and individual videos in Google search and YouTube itself. You need to learn how to compose headlines and descriptions correctly, select tags and hashtags, and analyze statistics to understand where your audience came from and what queries they used. If some keywords attract the most viewers, then you need to use them and shoot more videos on this topic.
2. Launch an Ad
This includes any free and paid advertising methods. So you must learn not only how to get more views but another ways:
- advertising a channel or video inside YouTube;
- advertising for bloggers-a mention in their videos or a link to your channel in the “Subscriptions” section»;
- seeding videos in social networks;
- mutual PR;
- advertising on websites;
- video reposts;
- comprehensive promotion from an Agency (you can contact freelancers).
3. Place the Link Everywhere (Website, Social Networks, Email Newsletter)
If you have resources other than your YouTube channel, you can drive traffic back and forth. Be sure to place the link on your personal website (if available), in all your social networks, in email or push mailings.
4. Collect from TikTok
Tiktok allows you to get huge traffic in a short time, and it can be safely sent to your YouTube channel. To specify a channel in your profile, click “Edit profile” — “Add a YouTube link to your profile”. Click, we are transferred to the Google account, you need to select the one that is linked to the YouTube channel, and then the YouTube button will appear.
You can also attach an Instagram profile there. You can also add a link in the profile description (this feature is still available for accounts that have more than 10 thousand subscribers).
If you don’t have a Tiktok account yet, make sure to get one, switch to a PRO account, and start shooting videos for it.
5. Use the Services (Only Carefully)
If the channel has already gained a certain number of subscribers, it is better not to risk cheating. Try to advance only by white methods. But to get the first 1,000 subscribers, you can use several services.
What you can do: buy views, likes, reposts, comments, and followers. To avoid being suspected of gray promotion methods, use the services carefully — all actions must be similar to the actions of an ordinary viewer. Namely, maintain the interval, do not make too many reposts and comments at once, and spread the actions over several videos.
That’s right: 1,000 views are divided into 10 videos, each with a different number of views. There are more views than comments. The entire process of cheating will take several days.
Wrong: one video gets 1,000 views in the first 5 minutes, while the other has 10 views and 500 comments.
6. Conduct Streams
Streams (live broadcasts) help to promote in any social network, YouTube is no exception — during the broadcast, viewers are involved in the process, they write comments in the chat and ask questions. You can earn money on live broadcasts by collecting donations. At the end of the broadcast, you can save the recording on the channel as a normal video.
Advantages of live broadcasts:
- no need to spend time editing videos;
- direct contact with the audience, increasing engagement;
- the ability to earn money on the air;
- You can broadcast from any device and any location where there is an Internet connection.
7. Create Your Own Community
The “Community” tab allows you to interact even better with your audience — find out their opinion and attitude to the content. What you can do:
- create polls and votes;
- ask the audience for advice;
- find out the audience’s interests;
- publish additional content (for example, backstage, gifs, photos);
- post news of the channel or related to its subject.
The advantage of the community is that news from it is displayed on the main YouTube page and is visible to everyone, not just the channel’s subscribers. You can see the news from a channel that you once visited but didn’t subscribe to. On the main page, this is called “YouTube news”. It gets 10 news from several channels. This section is personalized, meaning different news is shown to each viewer.
Viewers can also subscribe to your community and receive notifications about new entries.
How to create a community — when you reach 1,000 subscribers, you will have a “Community” tab on the channel’s home page within a week. To post a post there, click on the camera icon in the upper-right corner of the creative Studio and select “Create a record” from the drop-down menu.
You will be asked to choose the type of recording-a message with an image, a GIF, a video, or a survey.
8. Organize Contests
Contests and giveaways always attract a lot of subscribers. To really get an increase in the audience, set a condition for participating in the contest: be a subscriber to the channel, click on the bell, make a repost of the video in the social network and write a comment under the video.
9. Shoot Videos on Current Topics
When creating a channel, you want to shoot only what you are interested in. This works if you have really unique content, an original submission form, and a well-formed audience that constantly follows your publications. But most channels are not very different from each other. Such authors should search for relevant topics and then shoot videos on them.
10. Write Comments Under Other People’s Videos
This is a time-consuming method of promotion, but it can also help. The point is to find a video of competitors or related topics and write a comment. You can add a call to subscribe at the end.
If the channel name fully reflects the topic, you can do without calls to subscribe, and just leave comments, even if they are not necessarily long.
Important: you don’t need to spam or ask for a subscription like a schoolboy. This should be a meaningful comment or question to the author of the video, so that after reading it, people themselves want to go to your channel and see what it is about.
When attracting subscribers, don’t forget about the content — publish new videos regularly, do everything efficiently, and encourage viewers to subscribe to the channel and click on the bell to avoid missing new videos. We also recommend that you shoot the most concise informative videos without water for no more than 5-10 minutes.
