What is Wealthy Affiliate All About?

Wealthy Affiliate begins with the basics of online marketing in which you can enroll to earn your entrepreneur certification.  So, for beginners, this program is ideal.

Some, more seasoned marketers can jump ahead, but even for us, it was a great refresher to work through the lessons and training. But, this isn’t the same old re-hashed online marketing training I assure you and there is new updated training every week.  Beyond that is an incredible live support crew of experienced marketers online each and every moment regardless of your time zone.

Education

For the total newbie affiliate marketer, there is no better training than Wealthy Affiliate. Their free membership has an Affiliate Marketing Bootcamp that steps you through the basics of affiliate marketing in a way even a child (teenager perhaps) could understand. Again, this is fantastic for total newbies to the concept of Affiliate Marketing. But, for an intermediate or experienced marketer, this will likely be a bit too basic for you.

Beyond the Wealthy Affiliate bootcamp is so much more. With the live weekly classes, the ability to interact and ask questions and even more so, the training and help developed by their team of experienced marketer, there are also countless training videos developed by members.

Websites

As a free member (yep, no credit card required) you get access to the Affiliate Marketing bootcamp, access to Jaaxy – the keyword research tool (lite version) and website hosting on their SiteRubix platform with free SSL – Secure Socket Layer for one single website.

Now, I’m going to tell you out of the gate, this is cool, but you’ll likely fumble around a bit on your first website and then realize all the mistakes you made. And, you many put in a few hours learning how it all works, BUT, on your next website, you’ll be filled with excitement and realize how much experience you suddenly have and, if you’re like me, your second and third websites will go up ten times faster.

Therefore, the free Wealthy affiliate account is perfect to get started for the total newbie. But, if you do discover your passion for affiliate marketing as I have, you’ll definitely want to upgrade to the Premium (3 websites) or the Premium Plus (10 websites.)

What is SiteRubix?

Their SiteRubix platform is simply the Wealthy Affiliate data center, where they house their servers. You get a free Subdomain, but this definitely isn’t something you want longterm. You will want your own domain name, which I’ll get into in a bit and, realistically, your own managed WordPress hosting. I have tried several hosting platforms (Do not get shared hosting – you get what you pay for) and this is my recommended WordPress hosting outfit: WPengine.

While you can spin up a website on the SiteRubix platform in a matter of seconds, it is by no means monetized, SEO optimized or does it have all the necessary content. Trust me, you can’t launch any real website in seconds. Several platforms like WPengine will install the WordPress content management system (CMS) in a matter of seconds. But, then the real work begins.

Like I’ve said many times, affiliate marketing is likely the best side hustle online, but it definitely is NOT a get-rich quick scheme. Wealthy Affiliate will walk you through research, domain names, SEO, setup and monetization. But, it won’t happen overnight. Also, you don’t have to be a computer engineer, but being comfortable with technology and knowing your computer well, of course, helps tremendously. But, I digress…. let’s move on.

Domains

As I previously mentioned above, in the free package, you’ll get a subdomain. But, within Wealthy Affiliate, you can easily purchase your own domain name (and should, for SEO reasons – Google will rank your website higher) and it is quite seamless. Down the road, you’ll likely want to purchase your own domain names and manage them in one place. GoDaddy and many others are was over priced and are so damn pushy with upsells. I love to use this company for domain names and basic email: NameCheap

Wealthy Affiliate Community

I have been earning online for over a decade and have had many successful websites. I have many clients I build sites for and the only Beginner Affiliate Marketing program I recommend is Wealthy Affiliate. Likely one of the best facets of Wealthy Affiliate membership is their highly-engaging and active community with so many people in different levels of experience there, willing to help.

I have been in many “guru” forums, Facebook groups and “inner circles”. But, I was quite impressed with the Wealthy Affiliate community, helpdesk and one-on-one tech support when needed. • Incredibly responsive, active and upbeat community aspect – questions are answered quickly and concisely. Their support is pretty phenomenal.
• Fully featured professional websites – hosting included, SSL certs, backups, malware protection, file system monitoring (many cheap webhosting does NOT include backups)
• Entrepreneur certification, training, videos – regularly updated
• Real-world marketing tools and training to help build your first website and deliver quality targeted traffic
• Owners care and respond to members
• 18 years in business

Cons

As mentioned before – Wealthy Affiliate is for the beginner affiliate marketer. If you’re experienced in content marketing, social media marketing, etc. This may not be the place for you. But, if you’re a newby, or even done a little affiliate marketing in the past. Wealthy affiliate is definitely worth a look.

Weak on SEO training – While there are many websites that use SEO training as their flagship product and it can take years to become an SEO expert, I personally feel Wealthy Affiliate could use a bump in their SEO training.
